Lianne and Tom by far have to be one of our favorite couples. They both are from London and wanted to have a destination wedding to share with eighty of their closest family and friends. This is truly a loved couple indeed, when everyone flew in from the UK to celebrate in their marriage. Miami was the perfect destination, it offered them and their guests, sun, palm trees, culture and a lot to see and do.
The Betsy Hotel was the ideal venue for them, a beautiful boutique property on the scenic Ocean Drive on Miami Beach. The ceremony took place on the upper deck with unobstructed views to the beach. Following the ceremony, Lianne and Tom wanted to show their gratitude towards their guests for traveling so far and we accomplished this by flying an aerial banner with a thank you note to their guests. Guests then enjoyed a wonderful evening of cocktails as they watched the sunset over the horizon.
Following cocktail hour, guests were invited to the first floor for the dinner reception at the BLT restaurant. The design challenge here was creating privacy for them and their guests since the restaurant is adjacent to the lobby. We accomplished this with beautiful draping. We also wanted to make sure the restaurant felt romantic and intimate and not the same as you see it every time you dine there. We had custom linens created and a beautiful baby’s breath runner centerpieces overflowing on the tables by Ines Naftali Floral and Event Design. Guests found their escort cards on an assortment of vintage blue bottles and were assigned to table names of cities that were important to the couple.
The food menu was exquisite and they truly enjoyed their breakfast. This is a UK term I learned from them since it was the first meal they were sharing as a married couple they were breaking the fast. Needless to say, we were confused the first time we heard them refer to their dinner as a breakfast. The toasts were the highlight of the evening as it is tradition to roast mainly the groom. Following the dinner reception, guests were invited to continue the festivities at the B Bar lounge where DJ LA kept guests on the dance floor. It was truly a memorable wedding for such an amazing couple.
